SPACO, OLA clash in NSMQ regionals

The Volta region is set to host one the fiercest contests in the qualifiers for the 2019 edition of Primetime’s National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

Denu-based St. Paul’s High (SPACO) albeit fairly unknown at the national level, can boast of being the best when second-tier schools from the Volta region are called.

SPACO’s Ho-based opponents although psychologically edgier than by their first tier status cannot boast of any success in the NSMQ either.

Priscilla and Alberta represented Ola SHS in 2018

In 2018, OLA was eliminated by second runners up Adisadel College at the 1/8 stage after a poor performance. They came last in that contest, scoring as low as 22 points; 25 lower than Adisadel and 15 lower than Osei Tutu SHS who came second.

SPACO was not represented in the 2018 competition after they suffered regional elimination from Sonrise SHS who had a superb debut.

The two single-sex schools must now struggle for supremacy as only one of them can make it to University of Ghana in June.

Elsewhere, Bishop Herman College, who have consistently failed in the NSMQ bid, have another chance to make a statement.

Below are the other contests.
